Always have a water bottle around

Pouring water over myself helps me feel better

Pouring water over myself helps me feel better

My anxiety would always happen in the middle of the night. I would wake up in panic mode, I used to take my clothes off and immediately jump in a cold shower. Does anyone know when they are having an attack, you feel as if you need air? So, when babies are either choking or look like they need air, you kinda blow on their face to help them breathe it in.. in the same sense, that is what I would do to myself. I would jump in the shower and get out and sit by a fan in order to have the air hit me while my body was wet, and the cold air would help me breathe better.

If I'm not at home, I take a water bottle with me and I will put some on my forehead and chest in the event of an attack.. the cold air that hits your skin when it's wet seems to help me feel fresh and cool. Everyone knows how you will break out in sweats when your having an attack.. having water around to cool me down, has been a big help to me! Hope this can help someone else! ;)

That's a useful tip
by: admin

Yes, many folks describe the feeling of an attack in similar words - as "needing air". Almost feel like they're choking. But that's a good tip to get some air onto your face - the colder the better - and what better way than to jump into a shower (if possible), or at least sprinkle some water on the face. I am pretty sure that will help someone out there ease down their anxiety, at least a bit.

Thanks so much Maci, for sharing your thoughts here.
