sleep help and sleep remedies question 1
I used to sleep 11 hours for past several years, but now I do only 6 a night due to changes in family situation. As a result I feel sleepy all day.

Generally speaking, the amount of nap time people need is about 6 to 8 hours a night. Since you were in the habit of sleeping longer than that, cutting it short by about half is causing you to feel sleep deprived. Additionally, the quality of your nightly rest may be suffering as well.

You can fix that by following a few tips on a regular basis, like - sticking to a fixed nap schedule every night (including weekends), getting regular physical exercise (but not later than 4 hours before bedtime), and taking a warm shower an hour before bedtime.

It could vary slightly from person to person, but generally speaking, 6 hours at a minimum is usually recommended.

I keep having disturbed sleep. What are the remedies for that?

Maybe its some mild noises in the background that is causing you to wake up during your REM sleeping state.

If so, try creating a light background noise (white noise) that suppresses other noises - like a table fan. If it is the light, try getting a sleep mask.

Otherwise it could be stress, if you know something is bothering your or causing you to worry. If so, that is the problem to address, and resolving that will take care of your bed time issues.
